With the induction of new female foreign minister for the first time in the history of Norway, total strength of the central cabinet became 19 people including the Prime Minister Erna Solberg. Nine persons of 19-member cabinet are females and rest of them are men.
The lady who took the Norwegian Foreign Ministry this week for first Time in the country’s History, is Ine Eriksen Søreide (41) affiliated with right wing conservative party. Since its independence in 1905, Norway had more than 30 foreign ministers and all of them were men.
At moment after fresh reshuffling in the cabinet, all the three most important slots of the cabinet such as Premiership, Finance Ministry and Foreign Ministry are occupied the ladies.
These most powerful women of the country are respectively Prime Minister Erna Solberg, Finance Minster Sev Jensen and the newly appointed Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide.
The foreign minister Ine Eriksen Søreide was defence minister of the country from mid of October 2013 to mid of October 2017. As new foreign minister, she is successor of Børge Brende who left the office for his new appointment as head of World Economic Forum.
Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide (born 2 May 1976) is affiliated with Conservative Party, the largest group of Norwegian ruling alliance since her university life in 1995.
She is law graduate from University of Tromso, Norway and had been on various positions including Member of Parliament during her political career through her Conservatives Party.
